Hands On History: King of the Jungle!

August 10th is World Lion Day! “World Lion Day aims to raise awareness about the plight faced by lions. Scientifically known as 'Panthero Leo,' lions are one of the most well-known and popular animal species out there.”

Founding Father Rufus King loved lions so much that he made his family crest a lion's paw holding a key. He also has decorative lions on furniture throughout the first floor of his home. Can you find them all? Join us for a scavenger hunt to track down all of Rufus' lions, learn about the efforts made by African organizations to keep lions safe and happy in their natural habitat, and make your own lion mane mask craft!

Hands on History is a FREE family program series held each first and third Saturday of the month at King Manor from 1-4pm.
